FAQs

Is Hungry Jacks and KFC owned by the same company?
Competitive Foods Australia (CFA) is the largest franchiser of restaurants in Australia. It is owned and operated by Jack Cowin. Its units are Hungry Jack’s and, previously, some KFC stores.

Is Hungry Jacks owned by McDonald’s?
Hungry Jacks, a franchisee of Burger King, is a competitor of McDonald’s in the quick service restaurant business in Australia and has operated here since 1971. In 2020, Hungry Jack’s began to sell hamburgers under the names “BIG JACK” and “MEGA JACK.”

Does McDonald’s own KFC?
No, KFC and McDonald’s are not owned by the same company. KFC, which stands for Kentucky Fried Chicken, is a fast food restaurant chain that is owned by Yum! Brands, while McDonald’s is owned by the McDonald’s Corporation. Both companies are separate entities with their own distinct branding and operations.

Why does Australia have Hungry Jacks instead of Burger King?
When Burger King got to Australia in 1971, it discovered there was already a local restaurant there called Burger King. So the local Burger King franchisee — who was Canadian, by the way — chose to go with the name Hungry Jack’s instead.

or the first time In YEARS I went to Hungry Jack for a Vegan Burger. WOW it was GOOOOD I was not super hungry so my tastebuds were not fooling me. I enjoyed every morsel and left smacking my lips.
They Beat Olivers and others hands down and are not a rip off price either. So if you're a vegan in a hurry and want something tasty give it a whirl.

Hungry Jacks Clarkson Just eaten a Whopper burger & it was dreadful. The bun was stale, the meat patty was cold & not very tasty. I won’t be back. My rating is actually no stars but I was forced to select one

Hungry Jacks North Rockhampton.

When arriving into the restaurant the floors had rubbish floating around and the floor was sticky in spots. When choosing a spot for my family to sit at a table to eat, the cleanliness was far from clean. There was sauce and food over most tables, bins are over flowing and sauce was on the foot stool side of the booths. Disgusting is an understatement, my son also visited the bathroom where he replied "yuk" coming back, as I ask him to go wash his hands to eat. He said "there is pee on the floor and didn't look like it's been cleaned in a while". COVID has hit and cleanliness should be the top priority. Disgusting. We will not be visiting again.
